Be Ware Of Greek Gift: NUPENG Accuses Dangote Group of Crushing Competition Through Free Petrol Delivery Initiative

The clash between the Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas, NUPENG and the Dangote Group is far from over.
This is as NUPENG, on Friday, in a statement by its National. President Williams Akporeha accused Dangote Group of giving Nigerians a greek gift with its free premium motor spirit distribution initiative.

UGAMATV reports that on Thursday, Dangote Group released a new retail and ex-depot price template, as it announced on Monday, 15th September, to begin its fuel distribution scheme.

Accordingly, Dangote petrol retail prices dropped across locations.

However, NUPENG said the move was intended to crush its members and other businesses within the country’s downstream sector.

“Nigerians should not be deceived by the offer of free nationwide delivery of petroleum products to dispensing stations. It is a GREEK GIFT to ensure that other employers of petroleum.

Truck drivers are unable to employ drivers, so only those employed by the company who are forced to join the DTCDA will remain in employment. Everything is targeted at crushing NUPENG and its PTD branch,” the statement read.

NUPENG had earlier threatened to embark on a fresh strike, alleging that Dangote Refinery reneged on its resolutions.

However, Dangote Refinery has dismissed claims by NUPENG over refusing its workers to unionise.
