A popular Twitter doctor has raised concern over Napoli striker Victor Osimhen’s social habits during his ongoing visit to Nigeria, warning that his frequent dining in various private homes could pose a serious anti-doping risk to his football career.
In a widely shared tweet, the doctor reminded fans, and the Super Eagles star himself, that anti-doping agencies operate under “strict liability”, meaning athletes are held responsible for any banned substance found in their system, regardless of intent.
The warning draws parallels with Paul Pogba’s doping scandal in 2023, which resulted in a suspension that cost him his Juventus contract and stalled his career. Despite having his ban later reduced, Pogba has yet to return to his former form.
“This is not just about trust,” the doctor wrote. “Even a spiked meal could end a career. Be cautious.”
The post highlights that even accidental ingestion or sabotage is not a valid excuse under World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) rules. Substances like anabolic steroids, masking agents, or even tainted supplements or meals could result in automatic bans.
Osimhen, currently on holiday in Nigeria, has been seen in multiple viral videos visiting fans and accepting meals in various homes, a gesture celebrated by many but now drawing concern in light of the risks involved for elite athletes.
While there’s no suggestion that Osimhen has done anything wrong, the post has sparked conversation about the hidden dangers of relaxed off-season behavior for professional athletes, especially those under strict international doping surveillance.
