BBNaija star Tacha slams content creator Lawrence Alabi over ‘humiliating’ Banger Boy arrest

BBNaija star and media personality Tacha has called out content creator Lawrence Alabi over the way the arrest of upcoming creator Banger Boy was handled and turned into online content.

The controversy started after Lawrence Alabi had Banger Boy arrested over alleged cyberbullying and defamatory posts targeted at him and his wife. While many agreed Alabi had the right to seek legal redress, the situation quickly spiralled after videos of the arrest surfaced online, showing the young creator pleading — content that many Nigerians felt crossed a line.

Reacting to the situation, Tacha publicly condemned the humiliation of the young man, insisting that while the law should take its course, public shaming was unnecessary and dangerous.

“We are the biggest hypocrites,” Tacha said, adding that Nigerians often use power or influence to oppress others once they ‘make it’. She stressed that suing or reporting someone is fine, but humiliating them publicly is not.

Building on this, Katcha took direct aim at Lawrence Alabi accusing him of promoting and amplifying content that stripped the arrested creator of his dignity for engagement and clout.

According to Katcha, creators must understand that accountability does not equal cruelty, and turning a young man’s lowest moment into entertainment sends the wrong message — especially to other struggling creators.

She also warned that normalising public humiliation under the guise of “content” sets a dangerous precedent, where online influence becomes a tool for bullying rather than responsibility.
