The APC Youth Network in Bayelsa State has demanded an immediate forensic investigation and the termination of the pipeline protection contract following the resignation of former deputy governorship candidate, Joshua MacIver, who reportedly serves as the coordinator of Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited (TSSNL) in the state.
TSSNL, owned by former militant leader Government Ekpemukpulo, alias Tompolo, currently manages the pipeline protection contract.
In a statement released by Comrade Preye Godson, the APC youths alleged that MacIver has personally benefited from the contract while demonstrating little loyalty to the party or the nation. They claimed the deal, reportedly worth around $144 million (over ₦48 billion) annually, has been monopolized by individuals more interested in profit than pipeline security, regional development, or party discipline.
“Joshua MacIver did not join the APC out of belief in a better Nigeria. He did not contest as deputy governorship candidate from genuine concern for Bayelsa or the Renewed Hope project. His actions were motivated purely by personal gain. This is political opportunism and betrayal,” the statement read, describing the pipeline contract as lacking transparency and delivering questionable value for money.
The youths highlighted ongoing issues of illegal bunkering, oil theft, and vulnerabilities in the creeks, arguing that the contract concentrates enormous resources in the hands of a few whose loyalty lies with profit, not national security.
“MacIver epitomizes the failures of this arrangement. If beneficiaries can resign from the APC and still retain massive financial advantages, the contract has clearly failed the test of loyalty, accountability, and national interest,” the APC Youth Network added.
They called for a comprehensive forensic audit of the contract, covering its award, payments, renewals, performance metrics, and actual impact on oil production and theft, with particular attention to beneficiaries in Bayelsa State.
The group also urged President Bola Tinubu to terminate the contract upon completion of the investigation and replace it with a transparent, competitive, and accountable system, preferably involving the Nigerian Navy, local communities under strict oversight, or properly vetted public institutions.
“The Niger Delta deserves genuine security and development, not temporary loyalty from those who switch political sides while retaining public funds. The Renewed Hope Agenda cannot accommodate individuals who treat party membership and national contracts as vehicles for self-enrichment. Continuing this arrangement rewards betrayal and undermines party discipline and good governance.
“Your Excellency, the youths of the APC in Bayelsa are ready to support any decisive action to address this issue. Terminate the contract, hold opportunists like Joshua MacIver accountable, and send a clear message that Nigeria and the APC are for patriots, not opportunists.”
