Barr. Sunny Odenigbo Sues For Peace As The Maurice Akueme Foundation Awards Students With Bursary, Others During The MAF Convention And Bursary Awards Ceremony In Ukana

 

The Maurice Akueme Foundation has awarded bursaries to students, the foundation also recognized some hard working youths of Ukana with cash presents and Peace recognition awards

 

The Maurice Akueme Foundation Annual Convention brought many attendees from different parts of the country, who came in buses to witness another remarkable event, students from different parts of the country were also in attendance, including the Bursary Awards beneficiaries.

 

In his opening remark, the president/founder of the Maurice Akueme Foundation, Chief Maurice Emeka Akueme(JP) Njikokamma Enugu State echoed on the need for sustainable Peace in the society, Peace through leadership, Peace through charity, he gave an instance of how the Maurice Akueme Foundation is fostering Peace and unity.

 

This is evident in the Chieftaincy title, Njikokamma honored to Chief Maurice Emeka Akueme by Ohanaeze Ndi Igbo as a unifier through charity.

 

Speaking further, Akueme noted that the Maurice Akueme Foundation Annual Convention And Bursary Awards Ceremony has come to stay, noting further that it is a yearly sacrifice the organization performs for students, the needy, and as well honor deserving youths and community promoters.

 

“I congratulate all students of this year’s Bursary, we have more students from Ukana but only those of you here today scaled through our screening processes and we congratulate you, this occasion is a yearly sacrifice we perform at MAF to honor deserving students, the needy and youths who have shown leadership capacity, we also honor community promoters and developers who have proven their love for community, who has fostered Peace and unity in our communities.

 

Speaking during the notable event, the guest speaker, Barr. Sunny Odenigbo, the keynote speaker dissected the event theme, “Peace: The Foundation of Community Development And Progress”. According to him, “Peace is universally recognized as the bedrock upon which sustainable community development and progress is built, in Nigeria and across the globe, the absence of Peace has consistently undermined efforts to improve living standards, foster economic growth, and promote social cohesion. Barr. Odenigbo defined Peace as the mere absence of war or violence which encompasses the presence of justice, equity, and harmonious coexistence. Peace can be viewed in negative and positive dimensions, he said.

 

Odenigbo called on Ukana people and everyone present during the Maurice Akueme Foundation Annual Convention And Bursary Awards Ceremony – to embrace Peace and sustain it, he advised that an individual may build Peace in his society, promote and sustain it. He noted that Peace is the bedrock to sustainable development.

 

Dignitaries who spoke on Peace and unity includes; HRM Igwe Tagbo Ubaka; Igwe Oduoha I of Ukana Kingdom, Rev. Fr. Prof. Akubue, among others.

 

In their separate remarks, they commended Chief Maurice Emeka Akueme for being a backbone to Ukana indigenes and the to the Nation, with words of encouragement.

 

Beneficiaries of the Maurice Akueme Foundation Bursary Awards of 50,000 include; Ubenyi Onyinyechi Gift, Ozougwu Ifunanya Loretta, Okuonu Chidimma Lucy, Ogbaji Paul Justus Uchenna, Ugwu Emmanuel Ekenedilichukwu, Nnamani Chidera Benedine, Mmayie Chinaza Nnenna, Mathias-Mmah Chidimma Ebubechukwu, Madu Daberechukwu Stephanie, Igwebuike Chukwuemeka MacDonald, Igwebuike Collins Ifeanyichukwu, Eze Chiemerie Patrick, Eze Chiamaka Juliana, Enudi Blessing Chukwuasoka, Chidubem Chima Divine, Chibuzo-Akueme Chibuike Samuel, Amuta Somtochukwu Augustina, Akueme Blessing Chinasaokwu, Agubuchie Chinwendu Christabel, Agbowa Nnedimma Maryann, Aganigbo Henry Kamsi, Ogbaji Favour Mmesoma, Okwudinjo Chidubem Paul, Agada Christabel Chidimma, Okpo Anastecia Akuchinyere, Okworka Lawrencia Ifeyinwa.

 

Other awards include; Outstanding Leadership Award presented to Elijah Ejike Onyema and Ebuka Ogbaji with prize of 50,000 each in recognition of outstanding leadership exhibited at Ukana.

 

Most Valuable Player MVP Awards(Male Category) – Purity Alaiga (Ada Ukana), Most Valuable Player MVP Awards(Male Category) – Obinna Akubue with prize tag of 100,000 each. The MVP Award results emerged after a public google poll.

 

The MAF Icon of Peace Awards was presented to Rev. Barr Sunny Charles Odenigbo,rpa,FNIMN,FICMC,FCie

 

Marked with numerous activities including; presentation of Bursary Awards, MVP awards, awards of recognition, dissection of the theme, cutting of cake, music performance by artists, drama, dance, refreshment, testimonies.
