Bandits killed two in fresh Southern Kaduna attack – Govt

SOME bandits have invaded Ungwan Taila Village in Zango Kataf Local Government Area of Kaduna State, killing two persons

The state Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, who confirmed this in a statement on Sunday, identified the victims as Helen Lucky and Hananiah Elijah

He, however, did not state the day the attack took place.

The Commissioner said, “Troops of Operation Safe Haven have reported an attack by unidentified persons at Ungwan Taila village, Zangon Kataf LGA, in which two residents were killed.

“According to a report to the Kaduna State Government, the troops arrived at the location to find that the assailants had killed two residents; Helen Luck and Hananiah Elijah.”

Military recovers two corpses, death toll hits 53

Meanwhile, the state government says the military has recovered two more corpses from the last Sunday and Monday attacks on Southern Kaduna communities, bringing the number of people killed to 53.

Suspected bandits had penultimate Sunday and Monday attacked Madamai and Kacecere communities in Kauru and Zango Kataf LGA of the state where scores were killed, while eight were later murdered in reprisal.

The government later confirmed that three additional corpses were recovered by the military.

However, on Sunday, Aruwan said the military discovered two more corpses in the Kacecere village attack in Zangon Kataf LGA.

The commissioner said, “This discovery was reported by troops of Operation Safe Haven as they continued with search-and-rescue operations in the area, following the attack of September 27, 2021.

“The dead bodies were identified as Idris Mairiga and Yunusa Dangana, both residents of the village.”
