Babcock University, Ilishan-Remo, Ogun State, has expelled Oladipupo Siwajuola—a student previously declared “missing”—over multiple serious infractions, including involvement in occult practices, internet fraud (popularly known as Yahoo Plus), drug peddling, and unauthorized exit from campus.
Oladipupo’s disappearance on April 28, 2025, sparked widespread concern after a viral video surfaced in which his mother accused the institution of negligence and demanded accountability for her son’s whereabouts.
However, in a statement released on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, by the Director of Marketing and Communication, Dr. Joshua Suleiman, the university said that a thorough investigation disproved the mother’s claims and revealed a series of grave misconducts committed by Oladipupo.
According to the university, he left campus through the institution’s teaching hospital gate without permission. Contrary to his mother’s claims of abduction, it was discovered that Oladipupo had stayed in Lagos with a friend named Sodiq, whose mother eventually returned him to his family after discovering the media frenzy surrounding the case.
BU further revealed that on May 15, Sodiq and his father voluntarily gave statements to the university’s security unit, corroborating the findings presented to the Students Disciplinary Committee.
The investigation uncovered that Oladipupo had purchased fetish substances from a herbalist for ₦100,000, despite his mother’s claim that she provided the black soap for a skin condition. He also confessed to peddling drugs on campus, impersonating another student to open a bank account using his NIN, selling his phone under false pretenses, and borrowing ₦500,000 from an online loan platform to fund his gambling activities.
Based on his confessional statement and corroborated evidence, the disciplinary committee found him guilty of multiple offenses, including:
Unauthorized exit from campus
Drug peddling
Possession and use of fetish items
Impersonation and fraud
Dishonesty and unauthorized sale of property
The university stated that the expulsion aligns with its disciplinary policy aimed at maintaining a secure and morally upright academic environment. Oladipupo retains the right to appeal the decision, as outlined in the student handbook.
Babcock University also condemned the “malicious and unfounded” allegations made by Oladipupo’s mother, emphasizing its commitment to transparency and student welfare. The institution, however, commended the integrity and cooperation of Oladipupo’s father throughout the investigation.
The university called on parents and guardians to play a proactive role in instilling accountability and honesty in their wards.
