Agbogugu, Awgu LGA (Enugu State) — Stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Awgu Local Government Area have reaffirmed their total support and unwavering solidarity with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Enugu State Governor, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, pledging massive mobilization ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The declaration was made during the official flag-off of the APC Membership Digital E-Registration Exercise at Central School, Agbogugu, an event that attracted party leaders, stakeholders, political appointees, supporters, and residents from across the local government area.
Flagging off the exercise, the Executive Chairman of Awgu Local Government Area, Hon. Uchenna Joseph Okolo, described Governor Mbah as “God-sent,” commending his visionary leadership, bold infrastructural development drive, and strategic decision to align Enugu State with the centre through the APC.
Hon. Okolo emphasized that the e-registration initiative would deepen grassroots participation, strengthen party structures, and position Awgu as a major contributor to the APC’s growth in Enugu State. In an exclusive interview with UGAMA TV, the council chairman personally completed his registration and urged residents to embrace the process.
He disclosed that registration agents have been deployed across all communities and village squares in Awgu to ensure seamless access for residents, stressing that no eligible member should be left out due to distance or inconvenience.
“We are fully committed to ensuring that Governor Mbah’s target of two million registered members is achieved. Awgu will contribute its fair share through aggressive mobilization and community engagement,” Hon. Okolo stated.
He further charged all stakeholders, political appointees, ward leaders, and party supporters to return to their respective communities and mobilize residents for full participation in the exercise.
In his remarks, the immediate past Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Enugu State, Dr. Martins Chukwunwike, pledged total loyalty and solidarity to Governor Mbah and the APC, describing the e-registration exercise as a strategic tool for integrating the party into the consciousness and political culture of the people.
Dr. Chukwunwike commended the Awgu Council Chairman for the level of mobilization and the widespread deployment of registration agents across communities and villages, noting that the exercise would strengthen party cohesion and enhance electoral preparedness.
Also speaking, the Awgu Local Government APC Caretaker Chairman, Hon. Kenechukwu Okolo, described the exercise as a major step toward repositioning the party in Awgu, adding that the digital registration platform would improve internal democracy, strengthen data management, and encourage wider political participation.
The exercise is expected to continue across all wards in the local government area, with eligible residents encouraged to register or update their membership details.
Dignitaries present at the event included the Member representing Awgu South Constituency in the Enugu State House of Assembly, Hon. Anthony Nwankwo; the Commissioner for Human Development and Poverty Eradication, Prof. Benedette Ekwutosi Okoli; Deputy Chairman, Awgu LGA, Dr. Stanley Ezediuto; Leader of Awgu Legislative Council, Hon. Rose Udeh; former National Publicity Secretary of Ohanaeze Ndi Igbo, Chief Hon. Alex Ogbonnia; former Commissioner, Federal Character Commission, Chief Hon. Ginika Tor; Zonal Coordinator, APC E-Registration Enugu West, Hon. Jennifer Ndubuisi; Awgu APC E-Registration Coordinator, Hon. Okolie Arthur Okwudili, among other party leaders and supporters.
Following the flag-off, Hon. Okolo led party officials to supervise the registration exercise in Isu/Ituku/Agbudu Ward, where Dr. Chukwunwike further sensitized residents on the importance of the initiative and urged massive participation, describing the APC as the first political party to introduce a fully digital membership registration system.
He expressed confidence in the victory of President Tinubu, Governor Mbah, and all APC candidates in the 2027 elections.
In a strong show of unity and solidarity, residents of Agbogugu Ward and Isu/Ituku/Agbudu Ward openly pledged their allegiance to the APC, assuring party leaders of their continued support as the registration exercise progresses across Awgu Local Government Area.
