The Executive Chairman of Awgu Local Government Area, Hon. Uchenna Okolo, has felicitated with Nigerians, particularly the people of Awgu, on the historic occasion of the nation’s 65th Independence Anniversary.
In his goodwill message, conveyed through his Special Adviser on General Media and Publicity, Hon. Tochukwu Chukwu, Hon. Okolo hailed the Governor of Enugu State, His Excellency Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, describing him as a visionary leader whose bold reforms have repositioned Enugu as a “heaven for investors” and a model of modern governance. He praised Governor Mbah’s strides in infrastructure, human capital development, and innovative governance, which, he noted, have brought a new dawn to the state.
Reflecting on the significance of the Independence milestone, Hon. Okolo stated that Nigeria’s 65-year journey as a sovereign nation is a reminder of the resilience, sacrifices, and aspirations of her founding fathers. He urged citizens to remain steadfast in building a united, prosperous, and peaceful country, anchored on mutual respect and shared values.
The Awgu council boss also extended his appreciation to Awgu’s “super stakeholders” and the entire Ndi Awgu community, whose support and cooperation, he emphasized, have been the bedrock of his administration’s achievements in the past one year. He assured them that the council will continue to pursue people-oriented projects and policies that promote sustainable development and inclusive growth.
Hon. Okolo further encouraged Ndi Awgu and Nigerians in general to embrace peace, good character, and unity, stressing that “we are better off when we are united and when we look out for one another as our brother’s keeper.” According to him, it is only through collective responsibility and harmony that the dreams of Nigeria’s founding fathers can be truly realized.
He expressed optimism that with Governor Mbah’s leadership in Enugu State and the spirit of patriotism among Nigerians, the coming years will usher in greater progress and prosperity for both Awgu and the nation at large
