AUGUST MESSAGE: HON. UCHE OKOLO SALUTES AWGU PEOPLE, REAFFIRMS COMMITMENT TO GROWTH, UNITY AND SERVICE

 

The Executive Chairman of Awgu Local Government Area, Hon. Uche Okolo, has extended warm wishes to the good people of Awgu as they step into the month of August. In his new month message released through his Special Adviser on General Media and Publicity, Hon. Tochukwu Chukwu, the Chairman reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to sustainable development, inclusive governance, and community peace.

 

“August reminds us that each month is an opportunity to build, to unite, and to uplift,” Hon. Okolo stated. “We have made remarkable progress, and we remain fully focused on ongoing and upcoming projects that will benefit every ward in Awgu.”

 

Hon. Okolo highlighted transformative initiatives currently shaping the local development landscape:

• Ongoing construction of access road to the Awgu Green Smart Schools and Farm Estates, improving mobility and economic access.

• “Awgu Water for All” initiative, with the installation of solar-powered boreholes in underserved communities.

• Solar Street Light Project for improved night-time safety and rural electrification.

• A historic push to end open defecation by 2025, with over 2,000 Sato pan toilets distributed and capacity-building for local artisans on smart toilet technologies.

• Awgu Smart Farm Project, aimed at modernizing agriculture and promoting food security among youths and women.

 

The Chairman also urged citizens to remain vigilant and continue to be their brother’s keeper, emphasizing that “security and peace must be sustained by collective responsibility.”

 

Furthermore, he extended deep appreciation to the Governor of Enugu State, Dr. Peter Mbah, for his exemplary leadership and countless development initiatives that are transforming Enugu State into a preferred investment destination.

 

“Governor Mbah’s bold strides in education, agriculture, and digital innovation are setting a new standard. We are grateful to be part of this vision,” Hon. Okolo concluded.
