Two children of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar were joined in marriage on Friday at the National Mosque, Abuja, in ceremonies that attracted prominent political and public figures from across the country.
Atiku’s son, Abubakar Atiku Jnr, married Asma’u Abdul’aziz Nyako, while his daughter, Hafsat Atiku, was given in marriage to Umar Farouk Imam.
The double wedding was graced by several dignitaries, including former Kano State Governor Abdullahi Ganduje; former Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar (rtd.); former Sokoto State Governor Aminu Tambuwal; former Minister of Information and Culture Alhaji Lai Mohammed; and former Ogun State Governor Senator Ibikunle Amosun, among others.
In a post shared on X, Atiku expressed joy over the occasion, describing it as a moment of immense happiness for his family.
He noted that his daughter Hafsat was handed over in marriage to her husband by his close associate and longtime friend, General Aliyu Gusau, while his son Abubakar Atiku Jnr was represented by Alhaji Kwairanga Jada during the ceremony.
Atiku further stated that the marriages would strengthen the longstanding family bonds between his family and those of Admiral Murtala Nyako and Kashim Ibrahim Imam.
The former vice president also thanked friends, associates and well-wishers who attended the ceremony and contributed to the success of the event.
