For the second time this season, Arsenal delivered a commanding 4-1 victory over Tottenham in the North London derby, reclaiming their five-point cushion at the summit of the Premier League table. Eberechi Eze and Viktor Gyokeres both bagged braces in a dominant display.
Coming into Sunday’s clash under heavy scrutiny following a midweek defeat to Wolves, the Gunners silenced their critics in emphatic fashion. The pressure had intensified after Manchester City narrowed the gap at the top with a win over Newcastle before kickoff, but Mikel Arteta’s side responded in style.
Arsenal made a bright start and were rewarded after Bukayo Saka’s impressive run down the right set up Eze, who finished calmly to open the scoring. However, Tottenham struck back almost immediately after the restart, with Randal Kolo Muani capitalizing on a Declan Rice error just 24 seconds into the half to level the score.
Eze restored Arsenal’s advantage after reacting quickest to a loose ball in the penalty area, netting his second of the game. The hosts maintained control and extended their lead early in the second half when Gyokeres unleashed a powerful strike.
Gyokeres sealed a memorable afternoon for the Gunners in stoppage time, firing home his second goal after a perfectly timed pass from Martin Odegaard to wrap up a comprehensive derby triumph.
