The Enugu State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of a 20-year-old armed robbery suspect, Nwachukwu Chukwuma, in the Thinkers Corner area of Enugu.
According to the Command’s spokesperson, SP Daniel Ndukwe, the suspect was apprehended at approximately 11:30 p.m. on June 1, 2025, by operatives from the Thinkers Corner Police Division, working in collaboration with members of the Neighbourhood Watch. He was reportedly found loitering under suspicious circumstances.
A search of the suspect led to the recovery of a locally made pistol, loaded with one live cartridge.
SP Ndukwe stated that investigations are ongoing to uncover the suspect’s criminal intent and determine whether he is connected to any recent armed robbery incidents in the area.
Commissioner of Police, CP Mamman Bitrus Giwa, has ordered a thorough investigation aimed at identifying possible accomplices and recovering additional weapons or stolen property.
The Command praised the synergy between the police and the Neighbourhood Watch, describing it as a vital factor in maintaining public safety.
The Enugu State Police Command reassured residents of its commitment to a comprehensive investigation, vowing that all individuals involved in criminal activities will be brought to justice.
