Appeals Begins the sponsor of 1615 farmers in various Chains of Agriculture in Enugu

The Enugu state Government had declared that no fewer than 1615 farmers has been successfully selected to benefit in the ongoing world bank Assisted project, Agro- processing Productivity enhancement and livelihood support   project, in any chain of Agriculture in Enugu.


The Commissioner for Agriculture, Matthew  Idu, while speaking in a chat, stated that this is part of measures to encourage youths to go into Agricultural system fully.


Stating that Enugu state is one of the state where  Appeal project is working seriously  to make sure that women and youths  with passion for Agriculture are encouraged  to go into the various  value chains of  Agriculture.


According to the Commissioner, “the Appeals  also allow people   to choose  their value chains base on  their passion,  base on the availability  of other input like land”


Adding also that the  beneficiaries  once the business plan is ready and accepted done according  to the tenets,  of the agencies, will be empowered  to go into the value chain they have chosen 


He  restated, “Enugu state government is fully on the move that the youths  must  participate  in Agriculture , that why we are part of the state where appeals , Agro  processing productivity  enhancement  and livelihood support project and livelihood project is working


“we have about 1615 women and youths that have been selected  to participate as beneficiaries,  we have done their training  that was done in three batches and in different  institutions 


“And the next is to get their business plan done and Empowerment  follows  immediately,
We are taking 1615 women and youths into different  value chains  of Agriculture  like cassava  production,  processing  and maketing, Rice production, processing  and maketing, cashew, production, processing and marketing and  the  livestocks which includes poultry, Aqua Culture, all the value chains has prodction processing  and marketing .


 “And people  are allowed  to choose  their value chains base on  their passion,  base on the availability  of other input like land, as beneficiaries  once the business plan is ready and accepted done according  to the tenets,  of the agencies, they will be empowered  to go into the value chain they have chosen ” he stated
