APC North-West Endorses Tinubu for Second Term, Promises to Deliver Region in 2027

The All Progressives Congress in the North-West zone has declared its support for President Bola Tinubu’s second term.

At a stakeholders’ meeting of the APC North-West held at the Indoor Sports Hall of the Umaru Musa Yar’Adua Hall, Murtala Square, Kaduna, on Saturday, the party leadership endorsed Tinubu’s re-election, promising that they would deliver the region to him in 2027.

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, moved the motion for Tinubu’s endorsement, while Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris, seconded the motion.

Abbas said, “I move, on behalf of the entire APC family of the North-West Zone stakeholders, a motion of vote of confidence in our dear President Bola Tinubu, for his progressive governance, improving leadership, and unwavering support for the socio-economic development of the North-West geo-political zone. We unequivocally endorse him as our only preferred candidate for the 2027 elections.”

The Speaker later put the motion to a voice vote for the stakeholders, who all affirmed the endorsement of the President.

In return, all the APC governors in the North-West were offered automatic tickets for second terms in 2027 by the National Chairman of the party, Abdullahi Ganduje, in his address to the gathering.

“There is no vacancy in Aso Rock come 2027,” Ganduje declared.

Speaking further, he emphasised that President Tinubu was committed to the development of the North-West, the entire northern region, and Nigeria generally.

He said the commitment has been demonstrated through several intervention projects ranging from infrastructure, agriculture, and social development across the northern region.

“We have started seeing the light at the end of the tunnel,” Ganduje stated.

Speaking at the event, the Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau Jibrin, said, “It is clear in 2027, we are going to have a landslide victory. So let us continue in the way we are going. Let us continue to cooperate with one another, work with the President, and everybody cooperate among ourselves so that we have the desired victory.”

He said the defection of stalwarts of the opposition political parties to the APC was a result of the performance of President Tinubu in addressing the challenges bedevilling the country.

“This is not happening just for nothing. There are reasons for this. The President, of course, inherited a lot of challenges bedevilling our country. But he has come up with programmes and policies to surmount them.

“We’ve seen how he has dealt with our security problem in the North-West. Several areas were not accessible before now. You could not go to some areas before now. But now, you can go to some places; you can travel from Abuja to Kaduna. This was quite impossible before he came to power.

“Similarly, before this administration, you could not go to Birnin Gwari, but life has returned to the area. The people have returned to their farmlands.

“Several areas that were not accessible are now accessible. We know we are not where we want to be. We are not there yet. But it is a work in progress.”
