APC Blasts Opposition Leaders as “Political Villains” Behind Nigeria’s Poverty Crisis

The All Progressives Congress, APC, has taken a swipe at leaders of the opposition coalition, African Democratic Congress, ADC, accusing them of being responsible for Nigeria’s poverty, underdevelopment and misery over the years.

The National Publicity Secretary of APC, Felix Morka, made the claim on Thursday when he appeared as a guest on Lunchtime Politics, a programme on Channels Television.

Morka described the leaders of the coalition as political villains who had squandered opportunities to transform the country when they held power.

“A coalition of political villains, many of whom are prancing around in the ADC, were the same individuals who, through our history, dictated the poverty, the underdevelopment, and misery our people have felt over the years,” he said.

The APC spokesman particularly blasted former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, accusing him of chairing critical committees during his time in office that could have improved the lives of Nigerians but instead ended in failure.

“Atiku himself chaired critical committees that could have offered Nigerians the opportunity for a better life, but he confessed publicly that their attempt to reform the power sector ended up in a fiasco,” Morka alleged.

He also referenced former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s memoirs, claiming they documented how Atiku contributed to Nigeria’s challenges.

Morka took turns to slam other prominent opposition figures, including former governors Rotimi Amaechi and Nasir El-Rufai, stating they had been given power but failed to use it to improve the country.
