Anthony Joshua Injured in Car Crash in Nigeria; Two People Killed

London/Nigeria — British heavyweight boxing star Anthony Joshua, 36, was involved in a serious road accident on Monday morning in Ogun State, Nigeria, authorities and multiple news outlets report.

The incident occurred around 11:00 a.m. local time on the busy Lagos–Ibadan Expressway near Makun, when the vehicle carrying Joshua reportedly collided with a stationary truck on the highway.

Emergency responders treated Joshua at the scene before he was taken to a nearby hospital. Officials say he sustained only minor injuries and is in stable condition.

Tragically, two occupants of the vehicle died instantly in the crash, according to eyewitness accounts and local reports.

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and other authorities have cordoned off the area and are investigating the cause of the collision. Traffic disruptions were reported as rescue teams worked at the scene.

Joshua was in Nigeria following his recent high-profile boxing victory and frequent visits to the country. His management has yet to release a formal statement.
