Anambra Govt destroys native doctor, Akwa Okuko’s shrine, burns ritual items after judgement (videos)

The Anambra State Government has destroyed the shrine of native doctor, Chidozie Nwangwu, popularly known as Akwa Okuko Tiwara Aki.

The destruction was carried out shortly after a High Court sitting in Awka sentenced Nwangwu to 11 months imprisonment for his involvement in ritual practices known as “oke Ite” and related offences.

The destruction of Akwa Okuko’s shrine at Oba in Idemili South Local Government Area was carried out by Agunechemba security personnel under the supervision of Mr Ken Emeakayi, the Special Adviser to Governor Chukwuma Soludo on Community Security.

The vast shrine, containing the native pots known as Oke Ite, pictures of persons, moulded images, clothes, and other objects, was dismantled piece by piece.

The fetish items were subsequently set ablaze.
