The winner of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Anambra State Senator Andy Uba has got the support of the Anambra Patriots in the state.
The group has vowed to reconcile the winner of the primary with all the aggrieved aspirants and other stakeholders for the party to win the November 6 governorship election.
Briefing reporters yesterday in Awka, the state capital, the spokesperson for APC Patriots, Victor Ogene said the primary had come and gone, adding that it was time for all to close ranks in order to win the November 6 election.
The Patriots said in such elections, there must be winners and losers, adding that whatever happened, attention should be focused on how to win other political parties in the state.
According to Ogene, who represented Ogbaru Federal Constituency at the National Assembly, appealed to the aggrieved members to sheath their swords.
“I bring you warm wishes, on behalf of the steering committee of the APC Patriots, Anambra, and wish to make the following submissions in the aftermath of our party’s gubernatorial primaries held four days ago, precisely on Saturday, June 26, 2021.
“Let us begin by congratulating the All Progressives Congress, APC family in Anambra state for the peaceful conduct of the Party’s gubernatorial primaries.
“Our appreciation largely goes to the 14 Aspirants of the Party, who over the last one year laboured to sell the ideals of the APC to Ndi Anambra.

“Indeed, the sheer quality of our aspirants and their individual and collective accomplishments have put the APC on the great highway to taking over the reins of governance in our dear state, on March 17, 2022.
“In more ways than one, all the 14 men of goodwill who aspired to fly our Party’s flag are great ambassadors of the APC. In every contest, however, there are bound to be winners and losers, but in the instant case, we all, as loyal party members are the victors.
“This is because the outcome has only produced our Party’s standard-bearer, who we are all expected to assist win the November 6, 2021 governorship stool for the APC.
“As it stands, the party and its rank and file have spoken. We, therefore, congratulate our flag bearer, His Excellency, Senator Andy Uba on his nomination.
“We all would recall that, as committed party stalwarts, our group, APC Patriots, Anambra had several months ago, led the charge to ensure that the just concluded gubernatorial primaries of our party was conducted in a fair, transparent and objective manner, so as to produce a widely acceptable Candidate for the November 6, 2021 governorship election in our dear state, Anambra.
“As part of our strategy towards achieving the above-stated goal, APC Patriots spent several weeks interacting with the majority of our Party’s aspirants, with each session lasting no fewer than five hours.
“At each of these engagements, the focal point of discourse centred around how to ensure a credible process of choosing the party’s flag bearer for the gubernatorial contest in November 2021.
“Agreed that some hitches, including late distribution and commencement of voting attended last Saturday’s primaries, suffice to say that it affected all the Aspirants in equal measure, as electoral materials got to each LGA at the same time.
“In almost all elections, including those conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, such glitches are easily noticeable; yet, it does not vitiate the outcome of the contest.
“Which is why, as a Group, we are saddened by the undue haste by some of our Leaders to discredit the Primaries, even while voting was yet to be concluded.
“As it is, the Primaries have been conducted and a winner announced by the chairman of the committee, Prince Dapo Abiodun, governor of Ogun state. We, therefore, urge all our Party members to accept the outcome, congratulate the winner and work assiduously for us to win the main election.
“Indeed, rather than resort to recriminations, this, we dare say, is the time to close ranks bound together and jointly work as a Team in the foreseeable march to Agu Awka Government House.
“Already, the Patriots have commenced a series of strategic engagements, aimed at rallying all of our Aspirants for the arduous, yet achievable task before us: winning the November 6, 2021, Anambra Governorship election.” the patriots said.
