The senator representing Borno South, Ali Ndume, has raised new concerns about the changing strategies being used by terrorists and bandits across Nigeria, warning that their operations are becoming more coordinated and increasingly dangerous.
Ndume made these comments during an appearance on the television programme Politics Today on Channels Television. While speaking on the show, he explained that criminal groups are now relying heavily on local informants and unusual methods to execute attacks.
According to the lawmaker, insurgents frequently adopt “hit-and-run” tactics, gathering intelligence and sharing information among themselves before launching attacks within communities.
He noted that some members of the public have also been used as informants, providing information that helps the attackers plan their operations.
Ndume further revealed that in some recent incidents, explosive devices were allegedly transported using commercial tricycles, commonly known as Keke Napep, to specific locations where the attacks were later carried out.
The senator said the groups constantly study ways to infiltrate communities, strike quickly, and then escape without being caught.
However, he attributed the worsening security challenges to weak intelligence gathering, stressing that authorities need to improve surveillance systems and strengthen information networks to address the problem.
Ndume also expressed concern about the increasing boldness of these groups, claiming that some terrorists and bandits now record their activities and share them on social media platforms such as TikTok.
