EBONYI State Government has berated the state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party for taking issue with its decision to write the Federal Government to seek financial support for the state airport project.

Governor David Umahi had in a letter addressed to the Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika, appealed to the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), to assist the state with N10 billion for the acquisition of some equipment to complete the ongoing airport project.

The PDP had in a statement accused the state government of embarking on white elephant projects.

However, the state government on Thursday, said ‘concessionning’ the airport, which was the highpoint of the letter, will create job and other economic opportunities for the citizens of the state.”

The State Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Uchenna Orji, said this in a statement made available to The PUNCH on Thursday.

It read in part, “We state in clear terms that the reasoning canvassed in his publication, in all ramifications, depicts a man of shallow mental comprehension of the workings of government and a political extremist, who glories in dishonorable idiosyncrasy and unwholesome political mood pattern.”
