Enugu law maker Representing Anniri/Awgu/Orji River Federal Constituency, Enugu state, Hon Toby Okechukwu on monday flagged off the distribution of 270 bags of fertilizers  to farmers in his constituency.

The flag off which took place in Ugbo the home town of  Hon Toby Okechukwu was  attended  by all the Pdp chairmen from each of the local government  in the constituency  including Pdp state secretary Cletus akalusi and the Enugu west zonal chairman Ozor Okey Ozoani.

Toby Okechukwu  who  has  left no stone unturned, in contributing  so much to his constituents  and beyond has remained outstanding both in infrastructural developments , interventions in education,  improved  security, human capital development. 

It can  be recalled that  the UNN Vice Chancellors  Charles A. Igwe, had lauded him on  his contrbution in infrastructural development  to the university on the the occasion of the 49th Convocation  ceremony  of the university  last week.

Speaking during the flag-off, Okechukwu said the distribution of the fertilizer to farmers in his constituents was part his own effort to tackle food scarcity 

He added , since most part of Enugu west are rural people, our job is to till our farm so it is incumbent  on us as the representatives , if there is any way we can be of help is to provide  them   with farming inputs.

“My constituency is specialised in farming, and one of the thing i need  to do to make them happy is to  support my people with farming input like this  fertilizers, money  or any other thing i feel can help them , it is in line with my philosophy of eradicating poverty and hunger in my constituency.

“So this a little  effort to add to your momentum  in farming this season  and  also   little token  for  argumentation , to help yourselves in terms of transportation  or acquiring some input.

“It might not be able to reach everyone and is not like we have forgotten you but let us start somewhere along the line we will improve on what we have done”

He therefore  urged  the Chairman of each  local  government present to receive  the fertilizers unbehalf of the people to do a proper distribution of the fertilizers  to the people through party stalwart , ” that it is better let us be on the side that everyone  gets it than on the sude that no one get it ” he said.

Hon. Toby Okechukwu  further thanked the Governor  of Enugu state  who he described as someone who is minded regarding  agriculture he said, “infact when i was asking for improved  seedling for Anniri rice farmer last year, it was in Enugu  state Ministry of agriculture  we got that .

“I thank God, we have leaders  in this constituency  and the Senatorial zone who have the mindset  of helping and developing  the people, i also bring you greets from our own former  Deputy senate president of nigeria His Excellency Ike Ekweremadu , he also  encouraged  us to do this” he stated
