Address worsening insecurity now, cleric tells Buhari

The General Overseer of Gospel Faith Mission International, Pastor Elijah Abina, has called on the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd), to as a matter of urgency address the worsening state of insecurity in the country.

The cleric made this known in a statement issued on his behalf by the Deputy General Overseer of the church, Pastor Emmanuel Oluwayemi, on Friday.

According to Abina, most parts of the country have become unsafe for the citizens because the government has failed to effectively deal with the recent kidnappings, terrorism and banditry.

The GOFAMINT general overseer said, “The entire members of GOFAMINT joined our voices with scores of well-meaning Nigerians to call on the Federal Government to attend to the worsening security situation of Nigeria.

“This country cannot continue like this, so the government has to wake up and do something urgently about our security situation. The deliberate aloofness of the President and the detachment from the people at the corridors of power is scary and sickening. An end must come to this.”

He added, “Just this week, the church received the report of the brutal murder of the Pastor in charge of our City of Glory Assembly in Makurdi, Pastor Moses Udam and his pregnant wife, Nkechi, by gunmen who broke into his house at Agboughul area of Makurdi on Tuesday night, December 15.

“A blind old man identified as Nyikyor Mazugu was also killed in the attack, while three other persons, comprising two children of the killed blind man and a sister to the deceased pastor, were injured in the attack and are presently receiving treatment in the hospital. Pastor Moses Udam, who was also a lawyer and human rights activist, moved into his house at the outskirts of Makurdi just recently.”
