Actress Yvonne Jegede describes marriage as “overrated” and reveals reason she’s not seeking remarriage

Yvonne Jegede has disclosed that she is not actively seeking to remarry.

Speaking during a recent interview on Naija FM, the actress described marriage as “overrated”.

She stated that a couple could date for years without issues. However, once married, they begin having problems due to marital expectations.

She said: “I’ve seen so many people date for 15 years,17 years, and they marry for two years, three years, and then break up. Sometimes you go dey wonder say shebi they for just stay and no marry.”

Yvonne went on the state that while she is not shutting the door completely on marriage, she has learned not to force it or place it at the centre of her happiness.

“If it comes, but I’m not looking for it. I have learned not to say never,” she noted.

She also talked about how people become intolerant after getting married.

She said: “A lot of intolerance dey. The wife will be claiming her rights, the husband will do the same.”

Yvonne suggested everybody should do what makes them happy.

“Do what makes you happy and what works for you. And if you find the person you like, make una just dey,” she said.

The actress was previously married to actor and film producer Olakunle ‘Abounce’ Fawole, but the marriage ended in 2019, less than a year after it began. The union produced a son.
