A housewife, Ifeoma Okafor, has been arraigned before a Senior Magistrate’s Court in Gwagwalada, Federal Capital Territory (FCT), for allegedly threatening to kill her husband with a knife during a domestic dispute.
According to NAN, the defendant, who resides behind ECWA Goodnews Church in Gwagwalada, faces charges of criminal intimidation and mischief.
The prosecutor, Abdulahi Tanko, told the court that the complainant, Mr. Paul Okafor — who lives at the same address — reported the incident to police on June 6. He alleged that on June 1, Ifeoma knocked on Paul’s door, and when he opened it, she appeared holding a knife and threatened to kill him. She also allegedly threatened to stab herself amid the heated exchange.
Tanko further claimed the defendant shattered one of the complainant’s window louvers, with the cost of the damage yet to be determined.
The charges, he said, contravene Sections 396 and 326 of the Penal Code.
Ifeoma pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Senior Magistrate Munir Sani granted her bail in the sum of ₦500,000, with two sureties. The court specified that one surety must be a biological relative living within the court’s jurisdiction and must present a valid National ID card or driver’s license. The second surety is required to submit a bank statement showing the bail amount.
The case was adjourned to July 16 for hearing.
