A mother is the guiding light of every home. We honour her memory and her impact.” — Hon. Uche Okolo Pays Condolence Visit to Emperor Baywood Ibe

the Executive Chairman of Awgu Local Government Council, Hon. Uche Okolo,, paid a courtesy visit to the esteemed Emperor Baywood Ibe and his brother, Hon. Ugonna Ibe, on Saturday. This visit was not only a gesture of condolence following the recent passing of their beloved mother, Ezinne Eunice Nwabugwu Ibe, but also a continuation of his commitment to fostering peace and harmony within the Awgu community.

Ezinne Eunice, who passed away on March 19, 2025, was celebrated as a matriarch whose love and wisdom touched the lives of many. During his visit, Hon. Okolo offered his deepest condolences to the Ibe family, praying for the eternal peace of her soul. “A mother is not just a parent; she is the heart of the family and a guiding light for her children,” he remarked, reflecting on Ezinne Eunice’s nurturing spirit that endeared her to all who knew her.

Accompanied by Hon. Tony Nwankwo, a member of the Enugu State House of Assembly, Hon. Okolo emphasized the importance of community unity during these trying times. “We must come together to support one another, especially when we face loss,” he stated, underscoring the role of leadership in promoting communal healing.

This visit follows a significant gathering that Hon. Okolo hosted on May 28, where he brought together key stakeholders in Awgu at his Enugu residence. The meeting aimed to unite the community for a common purpose: to promote progress and prosperity across the local government area. Hon. Okolo’s ongoing efforts reflect a leadership style that prioritizes good governance, infrastructural development, and the well-being of the people he serves.

As Awgu continues to navigate the challenges it faces, Hon. Okolo’s visit to the Ibe family serves as a poignant reminder of the strength found in community bonds and the enduring legacy of a beloved mother. In moments of grief, the spirit of togetherness shines brightest, and it is this spirit that Hon. Okolo seeks to cultivate in Awgu.
