The Special Adviser to the President on Media and Public Communications, Sunday Dare, has called on opposition politicians rallying under the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to shelve their ambitions of unseating President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 general elections, urging them to instead prepare for 2031.
Speaking at a press briefing in Abuja on Saturday, Dare dismissed the coalition’s chances, branding the movement as a “purely opportunistic gathering of disgruntled politicians” with no viable pathway to power.
“The Presidency already rests with the region rightfully due. And that’s where it will be till 2031,” Dare declared, strongly suggesting that President Tinubu’s re-election bid is non-negotiable within the ruling circle.
He further criticised the politicians behind the ADC’s growing opposition coalition, accusing them of misleading the public and pursuing selfish interests.
“There is no injustice to redress—only avaricious ambition to satisfy the cravings of a few for the control of the National Treasury,” Dare stated.
