The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has condemned recent remarks made by Bolaji Abdullahi, interim spokesperson of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), describing them as an “unprovoked verbal assault.” In a strongly worded statement on Tuesday, PDP’s National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, reaffirmed the PDP’s dominance as Nigeria’s leading opposition party and the only political force capable of unseating President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general election.
The PDP accused Abdullahi—formerly associated with the APC—of using the ADC platform to attack the PDP instead of addressing urgent national issues. The party dismissed the criticisms as a tactic by political detractors intimidated by PDP’s growing momentum and support across the country.
Despite recent defections, the PDP emphasized that its core strength remains with the Nigerian people, asserting that it still enjoys broad national appeal and retains a strong support base capable of driving political change in 2027.
The statement further noted that the PDP has a lineup of presidential hopefuls with solid records and nationwide acceptance, ready to challenge Tinubu. It also expressed readiness to collaborate with other patriotic groups and individuals in a united effort to rescue Nigeria from what it called the “failed leadership of the APC.”
