11 dead, four injured in Anambra auto crash

A fatal road traffic crash has occurred at Agulu Lake bridge by Awka-Ekwulobia Road in Anambra late on Sunday evening. 

The crash involved three vehicles.

The cause of the fatal crash was attributed to wrongful overtaking and excessive speeding.

According to an eyewitness, a Mitsubishi L300 collided with an oncoming truck when the accident happened.

The injured victims were rushed to St Joseph Hospital while the corpses of the dead victims were deposited at the hospital morgue.

The Sector Commander,  Anambra State, Mr Adeoye Irelewuyi, sympathised with the families of the victims and wished the injured quick recovery.

He urged the motoring public to ensure the road is clear before overtaking and also maintain stipulated speed limits.

“Traffic rules and regulations must be obeyed at all times,” he added.
