Zidane Rejects €100M Saudi Deal, Eyes France National Team Manager Role

Zinedine Zidane, a former Real Madrid manager, has rejected a one-year deal worth €100 million from Saudi Arabia to return to coaching.

According to L’Équipe, the Frenchman wishes to manage the France national football team.

Current France head coach, Didier Deschamps, is set to vacate his post at the conclusion of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Zidane has been linked with the role and is widely seen as a potential successor to Deschamps.

The former France international reportedly turned down the opportunity to replace Marcelino at Marseille in the past.

France captain, Kylian Mbappé, recently admitted he would be “extremely delighted” if Zidane were appointed manager of Les Bleus.

Mbappé had said, “I no longer have to prove my love for [Zinedine] Zidane. If he arrives [France national team], it would be a great pleasure. I’d be extremely happy but it is not my decision.”

Mbappé recently returned to the France national team after an absence of some duration.
