Woman arrested after she allegedly poured salt and hot sauce into 8-year-old stepdaughter’s wounds, jumped as a form of punishment

A woman was arrested in Broward County, Florida, after she allegedly poured salt and hot sauce into her young stepdaughter’s wounds and jumped on her back as forms of punishment.

According to an arrest report obtained by Law and Crime, 42-year-old Melirose Joncky was accused of abusing her 8-year-old stepdaughter in a multitude of cruel ways after a elementary school guidance counselor observed “two black eyes, a large contusion on her forehead, dried blood coming from her ears and multiple scratches on her arms and neck.

“While [the victim] was on the ground, Melirose walked on her back, jumping up and down, causing her pain,” the report read.

“Then Melirose grabbed the back of her head and slammed it into the floor, causing a large abrasion to her forehead… [The victim] said that Melirose had used phone chargers to hit her, which she explained were the cause of… multiple lacerations on her arm, legs, back, and face.”

The victim told authorities that she had been beat with kitchen utensils and choked to the point of suffocation.

“Another form of punishment was to force an entire bottle of hot sauce into her mouth, as well as a mouthful of salt,” the report read.

Joncky also allegedly poured hot sauce into the victim’s wounds.

After the child was taken to the hospital, doctors reportedly found fractured ribs, fractured arms, fractured feet, and scalp hematomas.

When Joncky was asked about the victim’s injuries, she denied any wrongdoing and blamed it on the 8-year-old’s “acne.”

When police asked about the victim’s black eyes, Joncky claimed she ran into a wall.

Joncky was arrested and charged with child abuse and child neglect.
