We worked tirelessly to sign Victor Osimhen without selling any Player –Galatasaray Vice President

Galatasaray Vice President Abdullah Kavukçu has revealed that the Turkish club worked relentlessly to secure the signing of Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen, without borrowing or selling any players.

Osimhen completed a stunning permanent move from Napoli to Galatasaray in a historic deal worth €75 million, making it the most expensive transfer in Turkish football history. The agreement includes a 10% sell-on clause and a performance-based bonus tied to Osimhen’s goal tally.

Having impressed during his loan spell last season, the 26-year-old was greeted by a sea of cheering fans at Istanbul’s Atatürk Airport, waving Galatasaray flags and chanting his name. In return, Osimhen pledged to repay the club’s faith with goals and silverware.

Last season, Osimhen netted 37 goals in 41 appearances, playing a crucial role in Galatasaray’s league title win and establishing himself as a fan favorite. His permanent return is seen as a huge boost to the club’s aspirations in both domestic and European competitions.

Speaking to Hurriyet, Kavukçu shared insights into how the transfer was made possible:

“My president and I believed in this and started the process back in January. We worked hard to raise the money without selling any players or borrowing funds. A portion is being paid upfront, and the full amount will be covered within a year.”

“Some people mocked us, calling it a PR stunt. Now that it’s done, we hope they will acknowledge our effort. The responsibility now lies with our fans.”

“Galatasaray is a massive club. We achieved this without asking for help. As for other transfers, we urge our supporters to stay calm, trust us, and believe in our vision.”
