Uwazuruike, Bianca celebrate Ojukwu, call for Kanu’s release

Founder of the Movement for the Actualisation of a Sovereign State of Biafra, Ralph Uwazuruike, has called for the release of the detained leader of Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu.

Uwazuruike, who spoke during the 10th year memorial lecture in honour of late Biafran war leader, Odimegwu Ojukwu, which held in Owerri, the Imo state capital, called on the president, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (Retd), to listen to appeal made by some select Igbo leaders for Kalu’s release.

On Ojukwu, Uwazuruike, said that the late warlord lived and died for Igbo cause.

Uwazuruike said Ndigbo were grateful to Ojukwu for fighting selflessly for the freedom of the Igbo people.

He said, “This year’s memorial is a further reminder for who Ikemba Odimegwu Ojukwu was. Ojukwu was a great man who fought the liberation of Ndigbo.”

Also, the widow of the late Biafran military leader, Bianca, said she had achieved the three death wishes of Ojukwu.

She commended Uwazuruike for always honouring her husband.

The President of Ohanaeze Youth Council, Igboayaka O Igboayaka, said that there was no celebration that could equate what Ojukwu did for Ndigbo.

He therefore called on the governors of the south-East region to find a better way of honouring the late leader.

The guest lecturer, Prof. Nathan Uzoma, called on the Federal Government to review the country’s constitution with a view to achieving national unity.
