The tragic event of a young woman in the Choba region of the state setting her boyfriend’s home on fire has been verified by the Rivers State Police Command.

 

 

 

 

According to a statement issued today by the command, on the aforementioned day, Saint Sunny Amadi, 32, was severely injured in the fire and taken to the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital (UPTH) for medical attention, where he d!ed after being set ablaze in a room by Cynthia Chukwundah, a 300-level female undergraduate student at the University of Port Harcourt.

 

‘’Upon receiving the report at about 1112 hours, Police detectives from Choba Division promptly visited the scene and the victim at the hospital, who was in critical condition. Unfortunately, the victim later succumbed to injuries and died while on admission.

 

The Police have located Cynthia, who is currently receiving medical treatment at a hospital due to injuries she also sustained during the incident. She is also heavily pregnant with the deceased’s child. Due to her critical condition, she is unable to provide a detailed account of the incident, but will do so when her condition is stable.”

 

The statement goes on to say that a comprehensive investigation has been started to determine the circumstances surrounding the fire incident, and the probable cause of the incident has not yet been determined. The public will be informed of any new developments as they become available.
