Unpaid Dues Settled: Nigeria Squad Back on Track for Crucial World Cup Qualifier

The Super Eagles of Nigeria are set to return to training following an earlier boycott over unpaid allowances.

On Tuesday, Super Eagles players and officials of the national team boycotted their scheduled evening training session over outstanding payments owed by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).

Details of the negotiations and terms agreed upon between the team and the football administrators were not disclosed.

In a post on X, Super Eagles captain William Troost-Ekong confirmed that concerns had been settled and assured fans that the players are “as before, focused on the games ahead.”

He wrote, “Issue RESOLVED. We are together and as before focussed on the games ahead!”

The Super Eagles face Gabon on Thursday in one of the semi-finals of the 2026 African World Cup playoffs.

The winner will take on either Congo DR or Cameroon in the final to compete for the sole African slot at the intercontinental playoff.
