Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have arrested a suspected informant linked to the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) during a routine security patrol in Borno State.
The arrest was disclosed by security analyst and counter-insurgency expert, Zagazola Makama, in a post shared on X.
According to Makama, the suspect, identified as 37-year-old Umar Isah, was apprehended on June 20 by personnel of the 154 Task Force Battalion during a routine morning patrol operation.
He stated that the patrol was part of ongoing efforts to secure defensive positions and prevent terrorist activities within the battalion’s operational area.
The suspect, who is said to be a resident of Dawu village, was taken into custody for questioning. No incriminating items were reportedly recovered from him at the time of his arrest.
Military sources disclosed that the suspect would be transferred to the Military Intelligence Brigade (MIB) under Sector 2 for further investigation and appropriate action.
The arrest forms part of Operation Hadin Kai’s sustained intelligence-led operations aimed at dismantling terrorist networks, identifying collaborators, and denying insurgent groups access to information, logistics and local support within communities across the North-East.
Security authorities have continued to intensify efforts to track down individuals suspected of aiding terrorist groups as part of broader measures to restore peace and stability in the region.
