Bola Tinubu on Thursday welcomed Idriss Déby to the Presidential Villa in Abuja for a high-level meeting aimed at reinforcing bilateral relations between Nigeria and Chad.
The closed-door discussion focused on enhancing cooperation in key areas such as regional security, trade, and economic growth. Both leaders explored strategies to deepen collaboration on issues affecting their countries and the wider region.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the meeting took place shortly before Tinubu’s scheduled visit to Jos, where he is expected to sympathize with victims of recent violence in Plateau State.
Nigeria and Chad, as major partners in the Lake Chad Basin, have maintained joint efforts in tackling insurgency and cross-border security threats. Their continued partnership reflects a shared commitment to addressing challenges affecting the region.
Déby’s visit highlights the strong diplomatic ties between the two nations and signals renewed efforts to strengthen strategic and multilateral cooperation within the Lake Chad Basin.
