SZA fumes after discovering 238 of her songs were allegedly used to train AI models, calls industry supporters ‘disgusting’

Grammy-winning singer-songwriter SZA has spoken out against the growing use of artificial intelligence in music after learning that 238 of her songs were allegedly used to train AI models.

In a series of posts shared over the weekend, the singer claimed that music created by Black writers and producers was being analyzed by AI music company Suno to help replicate elements of human-made music.

“We make up 13% of the American population yet influence the world with our sound and perspective,” she wrote.

“I AINT HEARD A WHITE AI SONG YET… We have no protection in legislature medical or creative. The easiest to steal from.”

SZA also urged creatives not to allow their work to be used for AI training, writing: “DO NOT GIVE AWAY YOUR VIBRANIUM!!! DO NOT TRAIN AI W YOUR GENIUS.”

The singer slammed those supporting the technology, calling them “disgusting.”

“There’s NOTHING YOU COULD EVER SAY TO ME TO MAKE THIS OKAY. I hope u have the life u deserve,” she added.

Her comments come amid ongoing debates over AI-generated music, copyright concerns and the use of artists’ work to train artificial intelligence systems.

The posts have since generated reactions online, with fans and creatives divided over the role of AI in the future of music.
