Stop profiling Nigerian actresses as prostitutes -Anne Ogechi

Port-Harcourt-based Hair mogul, Anne Ogechi, has cautioned Nigerians against snide remarks about Nollywood actresses.

According to Ogechi, who’s the founder of Marvic Empire, there are Nollywood actresses who are legitimately rich, such that they can purchase anything to gift themselves.

She said, “Recently, I saw comments of people on social media profiling actresses who bought themselves cars and displayed them. Usually, things like this rarely get to me but I couldn’t help but address it.

“People need to understand that these actresses, aside from what they are known for, engage in other side businesses that fetch them more money. This is what I know, particularly in my line of business. I have a lot of actresses as friends who are hair vendors; some trade themselves while others trade with third parties. Society needs to stop profiling them as prostitutes or someone who amassed wealth through suspicious means. Instead, they should be encouraged.”

Ogechi’s caution came on the heels of rapper Ruggedman’s claim that women in Nollywood seem more successful compared to their male counterparts.

The famous lyricist tweeted that he has jettisoned his plans to join Nollywood because male actors in the industry are not living luxurious lives like their female counterparts.

“My male actors in Nollywood what’s going on? It’s only the females that are buying cars and building houses left and right. I wanted to come into Nollywood but at this rate, I am not coming again,” his tweet read.
