Stop Condemning, Start Strategizing: Amaechi Slams Government Inaction Amid Deadly Attacks

Abuja – Former Minister of Transportation, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, has urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to take decisive action against the rising insecurity across Nigeria, warning that the government’s failure to act decisively has emboldened terrorists and eroded public trust.

Amaechi made the call amid a surge of violent incidents, including attacks on civilians in Plateau State, the abduction of secondary schoolgirls in Kebbi, an ambush on soldiers in Borno that led to the death and kidnapping of Brigadier General Musa Uba, the assault on a church in Kwara, and the kidnapping of Rev. Fr. Bobbo Paschal in Kaduna – all reported within a single week.

“The Federal Government needs to sharpen its response to terrorist activities, strengthen military intelligence, and ensure the protection of lives and property,” Amaechi said. “Enough of looking the other way or issuing statements of condemnation. Prioritizing summits or travel when Nigerians are dying can never define good leadership. It is time to probe wrong decisions, strategize, and make tough calls.”

He added that the government could draw on proven strategies, citing his own experience in Rivers State. “We did it in Rivers State; it can be done across the country. We are prepared to help if you request help,” Amaechi said, calling for stronger intelligence coordination, accountability, and immediate action from security agencies.

Amaechi’s statement highlights growing public concern over the handling of security in Nigeria, with calls for urgent and coordinated measures to curb the wave of killings, kidnappings, and terrorist attacks affecting multiple states.
