State Media Confirms Death of Ayatollah Khamenei Following Saturday Attack

Iranian state media on Sunday confirmed that Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has been killed in Israeli and US strikes.

UGAMATV had reported that this followed the attack launched by the Israeli military and the US on the Middle East country on Saturday.

Khamenei was born on April 19, 1939, in Mashhad, eastern Iran.

He was among the Islamist activists who played a central role in the 1979 revolution that overthrew the US-backed Shah, Mohammad Reza Pahlavi.

Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump had said that Khamenei was unable to avoid US intelligence and tracking systems.

“The supreme leader was unable to avoid our Intelligence and Highly Sophisticated Tracking Systems and, working closely with Israel, there was not a thing he, or the other leaders that have been killed along with him, could do,” Trump announced.
