Saraki backs Lagos4Lagos as group dumps APC for PDP

A former President of the Senate, Dr Bukola Saraki, has expressed his support for the Lagos4Lagos movement, a major block within the All Progressive Congress, to join the Peoples Democratic Party.

Saraki spoke on Saturday after he was received by the Lead Visioner of Lagos4Lagos, Olajide Adediran, 20 local government and 245 ward chairmen of the group and others at the group’s secretariat in Ikeja.

The former Senate president said, “I want to assure you that until that day, May 29, 2023, I am going to stand with you because this journey is a journey that is not only for the interest of Lagos4Lagos, but also for Nigeria at large.

“When we hoist the flag at the centre in 2023, we also want the same flag in Lagos State; then the people will see the difference when we, as the PDP, are at the centre as we are in Lagos State.

“As I stand here, I only have one request and I only have, hopefully, one answer. Lagos4Lagos; it is time. It is time for me to be able to take your message back today to our National Chairman, to our leaders across PDP, that Lagos4Lagos has moved into PDP.”

Speaking, Adediran, who has declared his intention to contest the 2023 Lagos governorship election, noted the efforts made by the group within the APC which led to their move to the PDP.

“All the efforts we made as a group within the APC were banked on the belief that the party at the federal level would create a level playing field for us. During our rally at the Police College, we made it clear to the national party leaders that if they refused to do what we requested, we would move.
