Nighttime Terror: Kidnappers Strike in Abuja’s Grow Homes Estate

Unidentified gunmen suspected to be kidnappers invaded Grow Homes Estate within the Chikakore axis in the Kubwa area of Abuja early Monday morning, holding residents hostage for at least an hour.

The incident reportedly occurred between 12:00 a.m. and 1:30 a.m.

Speaking to reporters, one resident, who confirmed seeing a man and a woman taken away by the kidnappers, said the woman was later found within the estate, having been released by her captors for unknown reasons.

The resident, however, could not ascertain the exact number of persons kidnapped.

“The incident happened around 12 a.m. Those guys were well-armed and overpowered the local vigilance team. The police arrived at about 1 a.m., and there was a fierce exchange of gunfire for about 30 minutes.

“We are begging the government to fix this road for easier access for security patrol vehicles. We also appeal to the police and, of course, the FCT Administration to help site a station here for rapid response,” he said.
