National Assembly of Nigeria postpones plenary resumption to March 5

The National Assembly of Nigeria has delayed the resumption of plenary sittings, shifting the date from February 24 to March 5, 2026.

Both the Senate and the House of Representatives had previously adjourned for two weeks to allow various committees to carry out budget defence sessions for ministries, departments, agencies (MDAs), and government parastatals as part of the 2026 appropriation process.

In a statement released on Monday, Clerk to the National Assembly, Kamoru Ogunlana, explained that the extension became necessary to give committees adequate time to wrap up the ongoing budget reviews.

According to the notice, plenary sessions in both chambers will now resume on Thursday, March 5, 2026, at 11:00 a.m.

Lawmakers were urged to take note of the new date and time, while the leadership expressed regret for any inconvenience the change may have caused.
