Nigeria’s Flying Eagles have secured a place in the quarterfinals of the 2025 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations following a 2-2 draw against Kenya in their final Group B clash on Wednesday in Cairo.

The spirited encounter saw the Nigerians come from behind twice, with Kparobo Arierhi leveling the score in the 13th minute after an early penalty by Kenya’s Wanganya K. in the 6th minute. William Gitmu put Kenya ahead again in the 68th minute, but Nigerian captain Daniel Bameyi converted a 73rd-minute penalty to ensure a share of the spoils.

Thanks to Morocco’s 3-1 win over Tunisia in the group’s other match, Nigeria finished second in Group B with five points, remaining unbeaten and advancing to the quarterfinals.

The Flying Eagles now look ahead to the knockout stage as they aim for the continental title and qualification for the FIFA U-20 World Cup.
