Awgu Local Government Area reverberated with joy and celebration on Friday the 23rd of May 2025 as Hon. Uchenna Joseph Okolo, the executive chairman of the council, officially handed over a 300 KVA power distribution transformer to the Agbogugu Autonomous Community and Mgbowo Community.

This significant development, which also includes an additional transformer designated for the local council headquarters and its surrounding areas, marks a pivotal step toward enhancing electricity supply in the region.

The handover ceremony, held at the local council headquarters, drew a large crowd of residents and community leaders eager to witness this momentous occasion.

Traditional leaders from the beneficiary communities, including His Royal Highness Igwe John Azubuike Ibe of Ekpulabo Mgbowo and His Royal Highness Igwe Greg Ikwuagwu Ituma Onyima, were among the dignitaries present, alongside Hon. Elozie Nwabuisi, the president general of the Federation of Agbogugu Autonomous Community.

In his address, Hon. Okolo reaffirmed his commitment to addressing the pressing needs of the community, as identified in a comprehensive survey conducted at the beginning of his administration. Reliable electricity supply emerged as a top priority, and the chairman expressed gratitude for the support he has received from the residents in fulfilling his promises.

“The delivery of this transformer is not just about power; it symbolizes hope and progress for our communities,” Hon. Okolo stated. “I am deeply appreciative of your continued support, which has made it possible for us to realize this dream.”

Community leaders responded with heartfelt gratitude, acknowledging the chairman’s dedication to improving the residents’ living standards.

In an exclusive interview with UGAMATV, His Royal Highness Igwe John Azubuike Ibe described Hon. Okolo as a “Godsent,” highlighting the transformative projects he has initiated for the progress of the people.

Hon. Elozie Nwabuisi echoed these sentiments, emphasizing the crucial role of electricity in the daily lives of community members. “This transformer will power our homes, businesses, and aspirations,” he said, reflecting the collective hope of the people.
