IPOB Jewish Community Demands Immediate Release of Nnamdi Kanu, Condemns Continued Detention

A group identified as the IPOB Jewish Community in Imo State has called for the immediate release of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, and other members of the movement currently detained in various facilities across Nigeria.

The demand was made in a statement signed by Scholarstic Nwakaego Anyanwu and made available to journalists on Thursday in Abuja.

The group praised Kanu’s resilience and unwavering commitment to defending the rights of the Igbo people, describing his continued detention by the Nigerian government as unjust and baseless.

“We call for the immediate release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and all Biafrans unjustly held in Nigerian detention centers,” the statement read.

“We maintain that the APC government will not go unchallenged in the face of these injustices. Mazi Nnamdi Kanu remains the focal point of our movement, and we will continue to stand for our rights and freedoms.”

The group expressed deep concern over what it described as widespread persecution of the Igbo people, alleging that many have been killed, maimed, or forced into exile for advocating for justice and equity.

“We, the victims of the Nigerian state, stand in solidarity with Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and the ongoing struggle for our rights. Our people have suffered greatly simply for seeking justice and self-determination,” the statement added.

Reaffirming their cultural and spiritual identity, the group declared pride in their heritage, which they described as a gift from Elohim, and emphasized their right to either fully participate in Nigeria’s political system or to pursue self-determination as an independent nation.

Anyanwu, speaking from exile, also condemned alleged atrocities committed by the APC-led government, specifically mentioning Mazi Kanu’s family and other Biafran families enduring hardship and persecution.

“As a woman in exile, I stand with all those mobilizing against the injustices inflicted on Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the family of HRM Eze Israel Kanu, and the countless other Biafran families suffering under this regime,” she said.

The IPOB Jewish Community concluded by reaffirming its solidarity with the Biafran struggle, insisting that justice, freedom, and dignity must be restored to their people.
