
The students of Enugu State University of science and technology has pleaded with the Governor of Enugu State, His Excellency, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi to come to their aid following his ban on the use of tricycle in some parts of the state, including the school’s community, Agbani, which has made transportation difficult for the students.
This is coming days after the state’s local government election in which unknown gunmen disrupted some of the activities of the polling unit during the election.
Pleading on behalf of the students, a student leader in the school, Comrade Dona Okolieuwa who took to his facebook page commended the Executive Governor for his swift action in curbing crimes and killings in some Areas in the State.
“Your Excellency, inasmuch as I commend your efforts, I will not hesitate to bring to your notice the suffering which the ban would unavoidably occasion on the Students of the Enugu State University of Science and Technology, Esut, and plead that The ban on Keke in Agbani, the University town, should be reconsidered for the overall interest of Students of Enugu State University of Science and Technology, Esut, in Agbani Campus.
“It would be quite excruciatingly difficult for the students who use the Keke as the easiest, fastest and affordable means of transportation in the University community.
“The Government of Enugu State should look into this with the view to amending the executive order No. 1 to the exclusion of Agbani the University town because of the students who would be at the receiving end of the difficulty which the ban would constitute in the area.
“We believe the people’s Governor, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Dr Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, the Youths and Students friendly Governor will hear our plea and attend to our humble request”, he pleaded.
