INEC Registration: Igbo shortest road to Aso Rock — Senator Anyanwu

The Senator who represented Imo East Senatorial district, Samuel Anyanwu, yesterday described the online voter’s registration announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, as the shortest way for the Igbos to produce the next president of Nigeria.

Senator Anyanwu spoke in Owerri, while identifying what he pictured as the advantages the Igbos could have should they get fully involve in the INEC, registration exercise.

Part of the Senator’s stand was that the registration exercise would increase the population figure of the Igbos to decide the way forward for the country.

According to him, “We are calling on the Igbos to come out en mass and participate actively in the ongoing Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) voters’ registration exercise, it is the only way to overcome marginalization.

“Also our Igbo adult in the Diaspora should register online, this exercise will give the South East the edge to decide the outcome of 2023 general elections.

“The population of the South East geopolitical zone will not only be redoubled or boosted, but will place the zone on the map of success if qualified Igbos should come out and be registered.

“This is the shortest route to Aso Rock, if only we can jettison every other distractions and get registered. It is another rare opportunity to increase our population so as to stand a chance to decide what happens in future elections. All of us should forget the past experience we encountered and remain focused. With one voice, we shall get there.”

The Senator said that he was not happy how the “All Progressives Congress ,APC, has used harsh administrative policies to relegate the zone to the wall, any attempt to subvert the interest of the South East in the ongoing voters’ registration exercise in lieu of 2023 elections will not be tolerated.”
