-CHIEF WHIP OF ENUGU STATE HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY, REPRESENTING AWGU NORTH CONSTITUENCY, HON. JANE ENEH MARKS ONE YEAR IN OFFICE.

The Chief whip, Enugu state House of assembly, representing Awgu North constituency, Hon. Jane Eneh marks one year in office, today the 10th day of June, 2020.

A distinguished leader per excellence, whom has constantly and relentlessly discharged her duties efficiently this past year. She is known for her doggedness and compassion towards her constituents, a very rare attribute that has given her a quite deserving motherly love and admiration from the people of Awgu north and Enugu state at large.

To mark this major milestone, that is, her one year anniversary in office, she came to a decision to make an open statement, to enumerate some of her feats and achievements towards the development, safety and quality Representation of Awgu north in this past year.

Thus:
“ONE YEAR OF PEOPLE-
CENTRED REPRESENTATION: AN ABRIDGED ACCOUNT OF MY STEWARDSHIP IN THE LAST ONE YEAR – HON. MRS. JANE ENEH, CHIEF WHIP ENHA REPRESENTING AWGU NORTH CONSTITUENCY.

Beloved people of Awgu North Constituency, I bring you warm and hearty greetings. Today marks my one year in office as Member representing the good people of Awgu North state constituency. In marking this milestone, I feel obligated, not only to once again thank you for your mandate but also to address you on the journey so far.

I believe that the legislative efforts I have undertaken in the past one year and the service I have heartily rendered, which may not be fully covered in this statement, reflect my whole- hearted commitment to our common aspirations and show my dedication to the welfare of our people.

Barely two months of my assuming office, Awgu North constituency was confronted
by one of the most hideous security situations in recent history culminating in indiscriminate abductions and mindless killings of our people. Recognizing the hallowed duty which has been assigned to me and how it affects our people, I rose up to the occasion and without delay, co-sponsored a motion of urgent public importance on the need to intensify security in all rural areas and highways in Enugu State with specific emphasis on Awgu North.

This historic motion, which was unanimously adopted, offered complementary impetus to the comprehensive and sustained actions of our responsive Governor, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi by which the unfortunate situation was addressed.

Further, in the course of my duty, I paid an official visit to all the public primary schools in Awgu North constituency where I distributed writing materials (notebooks and pencils) to the pupils in an effort to improve the quality of learning in our schools and assist our children realize their dreams. Sequel to this initiative, I undertook the payment of the school levies of one hundred indigent students selected from the various public secondary schools in Awgu North.

Though tasking, I consider these efforts an investment to our common future which these students represent.
Buoyed by the Enugu state government’s education policy thrust: to give every child access to quality education, which has inspired massive reconstruction of existing structures and construction of new buildings across schools in Enugu state, I vigorously pursued the approval of His Excellency the governor for additional renovations and construction of more school buildings in Awgu North Constituency and to the glory of God, His Excellency graciously approved six school building projects in the first tranche to be sited in the following.

communities: Ituku, Ihe, Ogbaku, Enyimba and Agbudu based on the needs of the schools. Action is being expedited to secure the second tranche of the projects that will cover the remaining communities in Awgu North.

In the same vein, I have not rested on my oars in my continuous effort to empower our women and youths. In this regard, I have explored employment opportunities and facilitated efforts leading to gainful employment of our youths. I have also promoted active engagement of our youths and supported our youths in any way I could to acquire skills and become self-employed.
This is not to mention those encouraged and supported in various ways to start up small scale businesses.

Our women were not left out. A good number of our women, selected from the various communities in Awgu North, were offered the opportunity to participate in a periodic empowerment workshop for rural women and community leaders which I organize in collaboration with WACOL and the National Democratic Institute. Widows were not forgotten either. As part of my Christmas package last year, a good number of widows among us were attended to: I provided weave-ons, organized hairstylists who plaited their hairs and beautified them for Christmas.

During the 2019 pilgrimage to Israel, three persons, selected from different communities in Awgu North, were offered opportunities of a fully sponsored trip to the holy land (Israel) for pilgrimage.
Following the recent outbreak of coronavirus which induced unprecedented hardship on our people, I distributed with dispatch, one hundred and fifty bags of rice and fifty cartons of Indomie noodles while embarking on an awareness campaign in order to ease the suffering of our people particularly the elderly, nursing mothers, the indigent and physically challenged who I consider most vulnerable.

All through the year I remained united with our people, stood with them and carried them along, giving succour to those in need and helping in every way I could. Hence, I did not hesitate to assist one of us who was an awaiting patient at UNTH Ituku Ozalla for about a year. I cooperated with his family to find a solution and he regained his freedom.

I also supported a distressed elder and his family to replace their roof after their roof was damaged by a passing aircraft accidentally.

All these and more I achieved in the last one year with your kind support and by the grace of God.
While thanking you again for the opportunity to serve, I thank in a very special way our dear governor for his inspiring leadership and I thank the most high God for his grace.
God bless you all.

Please stay safe. #Janecares. Signed:
Hon. Mrs. Jane Eneh,
Chief Whip ENHA representing
Awgu North Constituency.”

Here, is to wishing her more Fulfilling years of service, with more and better accomplishments. Happy One year anniversary in Office, Hon. Jane Eneh
